Along with the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord Jesus to Heaven on 30 May 2019, the Brothers CMM of the Province of Indonesia gratefully celebrated a historic day in the Congregation. The Brothers Agustinus Abi, Bruno Bua Maing, Cyprianus Angkadai, Rufinus N. Ndruru, and Silvino Freitas Belo celebrated their 25-years jubilee of religious life.
With great joy for the grace of this vocation of religious life the brothers celebrated Eucharist with the people of the Parish Church of St. Ignatius in Manado. The thanksgiving Mass was also attended by hundreds of invited guests from various regions where the brothers are in charge, namely Ambon, Sibolga and Timor Leste, and Manado and its surroundings. The Mass was preceded by the Bishop of Manado Diocese, Mgr. Benedictus Estephanus Rolly Untu, MSC, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Manado Mgr. Yoseph Suwatan, MSC, and several priests from Timor Leste, Ambon, Manado and its surrounding areas. The celebration was enlivened by a choir group of junior high school students of the Frater Don Bosco School in Manado.
Main celebrant Mgr. Rolly said that “as we celebrate these jubilees of religious life on the day of the Feast of Jesus being taken up to Heaven, we are reminded of the meaning of Ascension Day. Our goal is to unite with God. The union with God will be complete if we realize that same unity on this earth, as Jesus himself has shown to us. It is our duty and responsibility to make His presence a reality in this world.”
The theme of the celebration was: ‘God, You know, I love You’. This shows the devotion to God of the five jubilarians, who are not separated from the reality of human life which has joy but also challenges. As a representative of the Congregation, the provincial superior of CMM Indonesia Brother Martinus Max Mangundap CMM stressed that “as people who are truly loved by God, the brothers need to have a strong belief that in a situation of fortune but also of misery God is always present.” He also had a request for the five jubilarians: “You have lived as a religious brother for twenty-five years and you will continue to be a religious brother in the coming years. You have experienced the love and loyalty of God for free, so please share this spirit and experience with your fellow-brothers, with communities, families, and the people you serve, and even with strangers.”
“The celebration of thanksgiving for 25 years of religious life is a special event. Therefore we say ‘thank you very much’ to all those who have supported this truly happy vocation,” said Brother Silvino Belo, one of the jubilarians.
