In the CMM region Brazil big changes are on their way. For more than a year the regional board, the general board and the school management of Colégio Padre Eustáquio have been looking for a far-reaching cooperation with other schools. They have now found it in the school organization of the Marist Brothers.
The main reasons for this change are the smaller and older group of brothers in Brazil and the increasing complexity of the (private) educational field. In order to prevent the school from eventually falling into the hands of large commercial players, or, even worse, from being competed away by them, the brothers went in search of a solid organization. In that search the consultation with the Marists went very pleasantly. It is clear that they are also very close to us spiritually.
A preliminary agreement was signed mid-October, and it was officially announced in the school on October 20. Before the end of the calendar year the brothers hope to complete the final handover. It will also mean a small change of name. The school will soon be called Colégio Marista Padre Eustáquio. A memorial will be placed in the school to commemorate the 60 years of service of the Brothers CMM.
Brother Ataide José de Lima, provincial superior of the Marists in Brazil, emphasized that in 1960 the Marists received the first Brothers CMM in Brazil, and now in 2020 the brothers receive the Marists in their school. He predicted a good future for the school.
