Belo Horizonte, 29 August 2020 – 60 years of Brother Henrique Matos’ Religious Life and the arrival of the Congregation of Brothers in Brazil.
“I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise will always be in my mouth. Taste and see how good the Lord is! Happy is the man who takes refuge in Him!” (Ps 33(34), 2 and 9). No matter the moments of life (difficult or easy, sad or happy), we should bless God at all times. It is in Him that we must surrender, for He is good and we will be happy when we take refuge in Him.
Thus, on August 29, 2020, we bless the Lord for three significant moments in the life and mission of the brothers in Brazil: the celebration of Father Eustáquio’s day, the patron of our College; Brother Henrique Matos’ 60 years of consecrated religious life; and the 60-years anniversary of the Congregation’s arrival in Brazil.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebration of these three moments was simple. Following all the requirements and recommendations for preventing the transmission of the virus, we had a celebration at the Parish of Sacred Hearts in Belo Horizonte, chaired by Father Vinícius, SSCC, with the presence of some friends of the brothers and representatives of the Padre Eustáquio College.
Celebrating the 60 years of consecrated religious life of Brother Henrique and the arrival of the Congregation in Brazil were reasons for happiness and gratitude among the brothers of the region. We see the example of a faithful YES and a long-standing surrender to God’s loving call, and we see the endurance of the realization of the charism of the Congregation in a world full of challenges of change and transformation. Finally, we bless the Lord for the graces obtained through these events in the region and we ask Him to always give us wisdom and discernment in our decisions in life and in the continuity of our mission in this missionary land.
