Dili, 4 October 2019 – Superior General Br. Lawrence Obiko and general board member Br. Rofinus Banunaek are in CMM region Timor Leste for a working visit. Br. Henrique Marques accompanied them to visit two museums in Dili: Chega and AMRT.
The Chega! Exhibition, set in an old Portuguese-era prison, gives a glimpse of the harsh realities when hundreds of Timorese resistance individuals were incarcerated by the Indonesian military during the occupation.
The Arquivo & Museu da Resistencia (AMRT) in Dili collects digitised archives of the East Timorese struggle for independence. The centrepiece of the AMRT collection consists of internal resistance documents gathered from individuals throughout Timor-Leste.
These museums are also a place of practice for students of ESTVC-MM (Catholic Secondary School for Vocational Education ‘Mother of Mercy’) in Gleno. This school is managed by the Brothers CMM since 2008. The school has two specialisations, namely IT and tourism.
