From 8 to 14 December 2019, the first part of the Provincial Chapter of the Province of Indonesia is held at the Carolus Boromeus House in Syantikara – Yogyakarta. The Provincial Chapter is led by moderator Pastor Inno Renwarin, MSC.
The celebration of the opening eucharist was preceded by the lighting of the Chapter candle by the Chapter’s chair, Provincial Superior Brother Martinus Max Mangundap. He was followed by other chapter members representing the entire CMM community in the Indonesian province as a symbol to present all the brothers in all communities, by lighting small candles around the Chapter candle.
The second day started with a symbol presentation by two brothers. Brother Ronald Randang CMM presented a symbol of “Salve Regina Mater Misericordiae”, which for him symbolizes the joy of being called and being under protection of the Blessed Mother Mary. Brother Rikardus Rumangun presented a pair of ‘flip-flops’. He compared his vocation with walking on flip-flops. For him, this implies happiness but also some suffering and being willing to be hurt (expression of service) especially service to God.
After the symbol presentations, the Provincial Superior Brother Martinus Mangundap presented the report about the board period 2014 – 2020. The members of the Provincial Chapter discussed this report and had the opportunity to ask questions to the Provincial Board. The next report to be discussed was the Financial Report on the board period 2014-2020, presented by Brother Emarius Gulo, Provincial Bursar. His presentation and explanation was very clear and transparent.
The afternoon again started with symbol presentations of two brothers. Brother Martinus Mangundap showed a Rosary, which for him reveals the meaning that in carrying out his vocation and in his duties as the Provincial, he experiences Mother Mary as a guiding spirit and Jesus Christ as the center and foundation of his leadership. To him, the Rosary also symbolizes responsibility, cooperation and loyalty, coming from Jesus. Brother Paskalis Wangga presented a symbol ‘The Cross of Christ’, which for him symbolizes the experience of his vocation that originated in Christ himself. Mercy exists because of Christ Himself. So he was invited to always be close to Christ as the source of Mercy that guides his vocation journey. The cross also symbolizes the spirit of discipleship, passion and suffering. In suffering Jesus remains passionate and merciful.
After the symbol presentations the focus was on the financial report again. The Chapter members got the opportunity to ask questions and Brother Emarius explained the financial report in more detail. In the evening, after Mass and dinner, the brothers reflected on the day in group discussions.
