“Speak, for your servant is listening “
1 Sam 3,10“Speak, for your servant is listening “
1 Sam 3,10On 25 August 2023, in the chapel of the Brothers CMM in Manado, ten new postulants were accepted in our congregation. The postulants were accepted by Br. Philipus Weridity CMM, Provincial of the Brothers CMM of Indonesia, during a solemn Eucharistic celebration. The celebration was led by Father Damianus Yangko Alo Pr, Parish Priest of St. Ignatius Church of Manado. The theme of this celebration was “Speak, for your servant is listening”, taken from Samuel.
The ten new postulants are Romi Romena, Paschalis Cristiano Sanak, Yohanis Romena, Yulianus Yul, Benedikto Nicky Yohanis Wowor, Mauritius Kelvin Moruk, Plasidius Alfrido Un, Agustinus Moruk, Jerilius Fuin, and Arnoldus Akal Ofong.
In his sermon, Father Damianus said that during the postulancy formation, the postulants must have a spirit of listening and of asking, which means the postulants must listen carefully to God’s voice every day, and have the courage to ask the formators and staff about everything they need to know about religious life. Also, they should always be ready to act and serve as a servant of God. In his speech, Br. Philipus expressed his gratitude for God having us accepting these ten postulants in our congregation. We thank God for the blessings and fruitful vocation in our congregation. We see that also today, God calls his people to actively join the works of mercy.
Of course, God leads and calls every one of us every day. He speaks to us through our parents, the priests, religious brothers, and sisters, friends, family, and anyone whom we meet in our life journey. Maybe we can hear God speaks to us through books that we read or homilies that we hear. Br. Philipus also added that the postulants should be aware that their vocation is a gift and blessing from God. Therefore, he advised the postulants to learn to know and love the congregation so that they can become true religious brothers in the spirit of brotherhood and mercy.
On behalf of the postulants, Arnoldus Akal Ofong said that the presence of the priests, brothers, family members, relatives and friends is a support for them in living their vocation. He also asked for their prayers, to help them in the process of formation in the postulate.
In the Eucharistic celebration, the postulants were accepted by the Provincial Superior, accompanied by Br. Antonius Gokok Kean, postulant master, in a small ceremony. They were given a Bible, a rosary, and a medallion. These items will help them building a close relation with God in their daily live.
