Manado. On 25 August 2021, as we celebrated 177 years of the Foundation of Brothers CMM, twelve young men were accepted officially as postulants in the Indonesian province of our congregation.
The postulants are Agustinus Pito Meltin, Stefanus Fransisko Fernandes, and Markus Relygion Motong from the Diocese of Larantuka; Fredy Alfyano Mura, Petrus Tuku from the Archdiocese of Ende; Andreas Adrianus Nasa Nati from the Archdiocese of Makassar; Yoakim Fegi Ruban, Alowisius Wamir, and Yohanes Djabutafuran from the Diocese of Ambon, Melkidius Tna’auni, Quido Anderlecth Teme, and Yosep Fernando Lau from the Diocese of Atambua. The theme of the celebration was ‘Speak, Lord, your servant is listening (1 Samuel 3:9).
In the evening, at the chapel of the brothers in Manado, the postulants were accepted during a solemn Eucharistic celebration. The Eucharistic celebration was led by Father Terry Ponomban, Pr from St. Ignatius Parish of Manado. The postulants were accepted by Brother Alfonsius Seran, representing the Provincial and members of the provincial board. The postulants were given a bible, a rosary, and a medallion of our congregation.
Father Terry in his sermon emphasized that postulants were those who listened to the call of God, those who had goals, those who had opportunities, and those who direct themselves to the voice of God. He also added that postulancy is the time for learning, listening, asking, and learning about the way of life of this congregation. “It is the time of being a friend of God. That is why we pray for the postulants in their formation time so that they can learn the way of life of this congregation“. Brother Alfons Seran stated that postulants also have to learn about prayer life, learn to be a brother, learn to live in togetherness and brotherhood as one community and learn to be happy so that they could achieve their dreams.
Petrus Tuku, who represented the postulants, said, “It is a historical moment in our lives as we are officially accepted as the postulants of Brothers CMM. There are various reasons why we want to enter the Congregation of Brothers CMM. We like to become brothers because we see and know the brothers live in togetherness and brotherhood in the community, the brothers are close to the youth and ready to serve other people, and Brothers CMM is an international congregation.” Brother Anselmus Abi, the new postulant master said that also for him it was a time of learning: learning to guide, lead, and help the postulants to achieve their goal and dreams. He can count on the support from the brothers and those who care for the formation of candidates of brothers in our congregation.
This Eucharistic celebration was attended by bothers from Manado, Tomohon and Tomohon Novitiate, teachers, friends and family. After the mass, there was a thanksgiving celebration at the postulate house. The twelve young men were very happy that they are finally accepted as postulants of Brothers CMM. They expressed their happiness by singing some songs.
